Post Exams!

Whooooo! Its all over!

For the past month I have done pretty much nothing bar revise in the library, do supervisions, row, erg and sleep. And eat. Sometimes. But now it is all over!

My last exam was on the Tuesday, and they seem to have gone OK (well, they weren't a complete disaster!) And then it was full steam ahead bumps prep! We had a quick outing on the tuesday evening (no post exam drunkenness for us!), not to be confused with an easy outing! Followed by pasta and Topgun, which was pretty cool!

After a relatively early night (and quite a lot of sleep) it was lunch time (I'd only managed malt loaf for breakfast). I was pretty nervous, so I didn't manage to eat much, but plenty of Powerade was drunk! We then cycled down to the boat house, did a practice start on the ergs and then we were on the river. We were 3rd in the division so we marshaled fairly early, and fortunately right next to the toilets , very useful for a nervous bladder. Eventually the marshals told us to row up to station. Unfortunately it was pissing it down by this point so it was quite a relief to get onto the startline!

The race was EPIC, we had overlap from grassy, and kept racing until past the railway bridge, but we bumped them!

Anyway thats enough for now, more updates when i get round to it!

Weeeeeelllll.... FAIL

That is what the last two weeks have been made of. FAIL. AKA, Harry has done no work. Zip. Nadda. Sooo, these next few weeks are going to be hectic iawn, especially as I really want to see Jess AND my Mum and Sally and Dean. Gah.

Soooo, just what have you spent your time doing, if not working, I hear you cry.

Damn good question.

Mostly I have been down to the Gym, training for next terms rowing, which I have been moderately successful at sticking to this self imposed training regime of DEATH. I also saw Charlotte, Will, Sarah, Manber and Nia at 147 a few times  - and even Steve!!!

Note: I totally cut Steves girlfriend off this photo. This is because I am a sucky photographer.

I also went to Ireland this weekend with my Dad - various family members were there, and I was promised the opportunity to meet my Grandma's side of the family as this was supposed to be kind of the last big shindig-type thing (it was a 80th birthday party, so you get the idea) however it turned out that me and Luke (my cousin, who was the other lieee [person that was lied to]) were there to baby sit the younger cousins why the elder generations went and did this.

Anywho, more specifically, me and dad rode to Holyhead on the BMW where we met Grandma and Grandad on the boat and sailed to Dublin:

Then we went to my my Aunty and Uncles house, were I met a cute but annoying dog, had some tea, drank some wine and went to bed. Next day got up late, bummed around, did not much and waited for Luke and Sam to arrive - essentially not much happened - spent the weekend in amiable lethargy with copious food/chocolate/wine until Sunday when Luke and Sam went home and me, my dad, Uncle Shane and Connel took the trails bikes out for a spin (cue gratuitous motorbike pictures):

Me, remembering how to ride a bike (its just like riding a bike, you never forget... bollocks!)

Me, having just forgotten how to ride a bike (ouchies)

Connel, being distressingly good

My dad, also in the process of forgetting!

My dad, remembering :( the forgetting was far more amusing!

Anywho, that pretty much sums it up, bar watching the Boat Race :( Damn, and I will have to face Will at some point, who will inevitably gloat :( Gah, again.

Well, its late, and I'm tired so I'm going to bed. Now. ZzZzZzZzZzZzzz

Long time no.... Blog.... [continued]

Okaaaaaaaaaayy.... so what happened next?

Ah yes, my sister came for the weekend, and we 'met' Jess at the airport - well we would have done, had there not been an unfortunate confusion about the meaning of "UK" and "International" arrivals.

Then it was crazy mad bumps week, which was quite possibly the hardest I have worked, ever. No seriously, lectures till 1 every day, then rowing till 3, then home to do the examples paper for the next days supervision. 100% worth it however, despite getting spoons!!!!

And the hard earned post bumps curry, which would have been a boat club dinner, had certain people not forgotten to book it!!

And, not to forget Joseph and Josh's awesome dancing skills:

Again, not much to report for the following week, bar obligatory sunday hangover, but BCD was well worth the wait!! Wooooo :)

And the bop afterwards, which was, thankfully, with trousers. Lo, the leaning tower of boaties!!

That was never to be!

And back to Adams room for more drink... somewhat thankfully, I can find no photos... what a shame!!

And that was pretty much it for the term, bar gratuitous drinking and formaling at the end of term, but none of the picture are particularly pretty (What!? It had been a stressful term!!) So I shall leave it at that!

Long time no.... Blog....

Sooo.... More in depth... with, shock, horror, photographs!!!

Okies, so where did it all start?
Or, where did I stop blogging? Oh, snow week!!! :)
Right, nothing much happened (or so says my camera...) until the engineers dinner the monday after, which was obviously awesome:

Unfortunately, there was rowing next morning, and that meant no going out afterwards :(
Buuuuuut, there was formal that night, sooooo excess of wine etc... and a good time had by all. I think. At least I'm sure Jamie did, despite being thrown out of formal  :)

Oh, and the cock man.....

And then Jess came for Valentine's Eve :D

Which was clearly the most awesome bit yet :) :) :)

Then we went to Cauis for formal on Sunday, which was VERY pennylicious, and really rather good fun :)

There was also some drunken pool afterwards, and depending on who you ask there may have been some snappage :o

Aaaand thats all we've got time for folks... early mornings tomorrow with work to do and all :)

JessJessJess! SnowSnowSnow!

What an awesome weekend!?

Well, apart from a fairly crummy start (a test? who's silly idea was that?).

First off I went to "Surprise" Jess in London, only she kind of knew I was coming, and when my phone ran out of battery and I had to call from a pay-phone, the surprise was spoiled a little, but it was still really nice!

1st off we went to do some shopping in central London, as I had only brought the clothes I was wearing (I'm silly like that), and that was very nice. We had McDonald's for tea, and then we went to see "Frost/Nixon" which was pretty darn entertaining. Then we went home and I tried to get my projector to work, but couldn't, so eventually we gave up and went to bed (we were both pretty tired by this point).

We had quite a lazy morning (with sausage and egg butties for breakfast :)  ) and then we went to explore the Chinese New Year festivities, which was really good fun as well :) Unfortunately, it was then getting on a bit and time to head back to Jess's to pick up my stuff and head home. I did however get a bit longer because the train was later than I thought, so we watched an episode of the IT Crowd :):):)    )

In the intervening time it started to snow stupidly heavily, and by the time I'd walked from Jess's to the station, my coat was practically white!!! Anywho, I slept most of the way back to Cambridge, then as I got back to college (after a hair raising bike ride, and also seeing someone had tried to steal my bike) there was a massive snowball fight in Cripps court. I sprinted upstairs, dumped my stuff and waded into the fray!!!

About 3 hours later (1 am...? I'm not 100% sure....) we had thoroughly beaten the MCR and I collapsed, utterly exhausted, into bed, only to be rudely awakened a few short hours later by my alarm clock... time to go rowing!!

BUT apparently  we can't row in the snow (Something silly about hypothermia...? Pah!), so I did a 2 x 5k erg instead.... urk....

Anywho, all this frivolity has left me with an excess of work to do, so here I go!!!

Weekend Bumper Update!!! Woooo!

Hello all!

Well, another weekend one – and four days left to the ultimate showdown of ultimate destining  (google it), only less Chuck Norris and funny pictures, and more equations and diagrams. Oh, if only the reverse were true.

And the weekend was a bit of a failure revisionwise – got some solid structures done, but that’s about it. However I did write to 2 companies about work placements, which is a start (too little too late  - oh god I hope not! (:/ Llangollen railway volunteers here I come….)

Well, tomorrow fast approaches, (well, its already here, kind of, but it’s a well known fact that the next day doesn’t really begin till 3am (that’s when you begin to ponder the point of going to bed, and contemplate the merits of powering on through!) So, I’ll make my account of the weekend brief.

Friday: Not much happened, lectures and such. We played poker in Toms room in the evening, which was a good bit of fun!

Saturday, got up latish, assassins game has started, so me Joseph and Foysol went off to St Catz for fun and frollocks, and Foysol losing one of my nerf darts, and Joseph scarin the sh*t out of some poor assassin that wasn’t expecting a 13 stone Welshman with a nerf gun (it wasn’t his target, by the way, just some other random person that was around!).

Then there was rowing (getting better, we are all rowing in time mostly now, and its looking quite a lot more professional), and we picked our cox, Charlotte Hogg,  and have now got a set of ergs to do.  YAY.

Went back home, wrot some more of my CV, polished up my covering letter… then dossed around till I wnet to the Hermes/Sirens Bop for a bit, then went to bed. Gay.

Got up earlier today, Yay! Brunch! Then did some Structures, went to find out which nefarious characters were aknocking on Foysol’s door, followed them, and lost them cos Joseph, Ashley and Foysol couldn’t keep up! More Gay!

Anywho, Monday: Boring, lectures, labs, etc, a bit of mechanics revision… not much though L

Bed now J

Mmmmmm... spicy spicy fajitas :)

Last night Asher finally did his faijitas, and they were very nice... if a little spicy! T'was good fun, and we watched transformers afterwards, which was also pretty good :)

Then I had rowing in the morning, which was good fun, 1st of our 4 cox trials (next one is on friday, then 2 on saturday). Costia did pretty well.... a pity he crashed the boat and splintered the stern. Oh well!

Lectures were good today, and caught up with most of my thermofluids which was nice, then we had formal in the evening, which was good fun. But it was a bit weird... not drinking at formal is strange!!!

Byeeeeeeeeee!

Monday, 19 January 2009

Oooops....

Less of a good day today... missed my Microprocessor lab this morning (its not too bad  - I've rearranged it already - I just hope the let me have the marks!!) and half my thermofluids lecture :(

Weekend wasn't brilliant either. Really struggling to get my head down and do work :/ Should be working now tbh...

In any event it was... eventful... played ring of fire with Joseph, Merlin, Tom, Tom's mysterious other friend, and Steve, which was lots of fun. Then we had the boatie curry on sunday night which was fantastic (made M3 woo woo! although that does mean i have to be out at 6:45) although I really don't want to drink ever again (formal tomorrow night :| )

Anywho, just a short one for today, need to do some work!!

Byeeeeeee...

Meh... well at least I got pizza... and waffles...

Bit of a let down today. Got up late, so no work done this morning. Lectures were quite good - I like my new maths lecturer - very understandable, perhaps the pace is a little slow, but it makes for a pleasant change of pace!

Got another maths paper done, but it took ages, which was rubbish not to mention depressing.

Started rowing training again today, rowed my 2k qualifying erg today (7:54 if anyone is interested) . Then had a meeting with Dr Keeler, finished that maths paper and then waited for the fajitas that I was promised, but they never came :( (something about a rugby match?)

Anywho, then I ordered pizza, pigged out and watched TV-links and wrote this... slight fail...

See you!

A new term, a new chance to start a fresh. Maybe

OK, so I'm back!

After a busy, but not particularly productive, holiday I'm back at Cambridge. Then I remembered all the work I should have done over the holidays.

So, the past few days have been a bit hectic (not least because of a frustrating inability to sit down and work), but I think I've got the hang of it now. The essay is done, the examples papers are by and large done (although new ones just came out! Eeeek! ), I'm making headway with the maths Tripos papers. Only 2 lectures tomorrow, so, fingers crossed, I can get the maths papers done and get some proper revision under my belt :)

Although, I don't plan to work all weekend! My corridor is having another homecooked meal (fajitas, courtesy of Asher :s ), which will hopefully be a laugh! Then there is the boatclub curry on sunday, which I'm looking forward immensely to! Oooh! and formal on tuesday!

Anyhow, its late, I'm tired, and that bed isn't going to sleep in itself. Probably.
